  • This is the awkward looking stage of a loon chick. It actually came up to me while I was in a boat and was checking me out while it's mother looked on from further behind it.
  • Generally the white underbelly of a loon isn't visible unless it is grooming like this or stretching its wings as it comes out of the water.
